2011-2012 BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CHILD CARE PROGRAMS:
Our before & after school programs are held DIRECTLY at your child's school. The YMCA opens at 7am and the children are dismissed to school from the YMCA program. The program opens when the children dismiss from school (including early Wednesday's) and closes at 6pm. The children are provided with homework/quiet time, structured games and activities, service learning projects, free play and other activities that they help choose.
During the schoolyear, children make fleece blankets for the Linus Project, which are donated to the CT Children's Medical Center, learn sign language as a new form of communication, collect Capri Sun containers for a school-wide recycling project, compete in their own Olympic games, and have pen pals from the YMCA in Russia, among many other activities and projects.
YMCA Kindergarten
AM Kindergarten:
If your child gets placed in AM kindergarten, your child can attend the AM care, which is directly at your child's school. Your child will then go to AM Kindergarten. Upon dismissal, a YMCA van will pick your child up and take them to our YMCA Kindergarten program. The YMCA Kindergarten program is open until 6pm. You can pick up your child any time between drop off and 6pm.
PM Kindergarten:
If your child gets placed in PM Kindergarten, your child can attend the morning YMCA program, which opens at 7am and your child is in our care until school starts. A YMCA van will transport your child to school. We also provide after care directly at your child's school in the YMCA after school program and that is open until 6pm.
The YMCA Kindergarten program is located at High Street School, 30 High Street, in South Glastonbury. All fees are monthly, and the kindergarten fees include both before and after care as well as the kindergarten care. The Kindergarten program is an academically enriched program that uses a curriculum that mirrors what the children are learning in the Glastonbury Public School System.
